🔤 Word Guess
How to play
Word Guess is a vocabulary deduction game: the computer picks a secret 5-letter word and you get six attempts to find it. Type any valid 5-letter word and press Enter. Every tile flips to reveal its verdict — green means the letter is correct and in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the word but in the wrong slot, and gray means the letter isn't in the secret word at all. Keep your greens, shuffle yellows into new positions, and stop wasting guesses on gray letters. Solve it within six rows to win the round.
Controls
- Physical keyboard: type A–Z to fill the row, Enter to submit, Backspace to delete a letter.
- On-screen keyboard: tap letters to type, ENTER to submit, ⌫ to delete. Keys light up green, yellow and gray as letters are revealed — a built-in cheat sheet.
- Fully playable by touch — every key works with a tap on phones and tablets.
Tips & strategy
- Open with a word full of common vowels and consonants, like RADIO or LIGHT — distinct letters give you maximum information on row one.
- Use fresh letters on guess two unless row one gave you greens. Re-testing gray letters is the classic beginner mistake.
- With two or three yellows, say the possible positions aloud — rearranging letters mentally is where most players stall.
- Watch for doubles: feedback marks only as many copies as the secret word contains, so words like BLOOM can surprise you.
Scoring
Each solved word scores 100 points plus 25 per unused try — a first-guess crack is worth 225. Consecutive wins build a streak worth 10 bonus points per round, and your best streak is saved between visits. Losing a round resets the streak to zero, so play carefully!
