How to play
Volcano Escape is a vertical arcade platformer set inside an erupting volcano. You start at the crater floor while molten lava begins to rise beneath you. Your climber bounces automatically every time he lands on a rocky ledge β all you do is steer him left and right so he keeps landing on the next ledge up. The camera follows your climb, and the score is simply how many metres you rise before the lava swallows you, a fireball knocks you out, or you miss a ledge and fall.
Controls
- Keyboard: left/right arrows or A/D to steer mid-air. Press Space to start or restart.
- Touch: hold the big β and βΆ buttons under the game β they work like a d-pad.
- There is no jump button: every landing bounces you automatically, so focus entirely on positioning.
Tips & strategy
- The lava gets faster the longer you survive β after about a minute it climbs noticeably quicker, so keep a steady upward rhythm.
- Crumbling ledges crack and fall apart half a second after you touch them: land and bounce off immediately.
- Moving ledges slide sideways; ride one briefly to reach an awkward gap, but don't trust it for long.
- Springy lava-vents glow green and launch you much higher β use them to skip dangerous stretches and outrun the lava.
- Fireballs fall faster as you climb. Watch the top of the screen and drift sideways early; last-second dodges rarely work.
- You wrap around the screen edges β a risky jump off one side can save you by re-entering on the other.
Scoring
Your score is your climb height in metres: every 10 pixels of altitude is one metre. There are no bonus pickups β pure climbing skill decides your best. Milestones at every 150 m flash encouragement as the lava accelerates. Your best height is saved in your browser, so each run is a race against your own record.
