About Tug of War
Two teams, one rope, and a flag hanging in the middle β the oldest strength contest in the book. Tug of War turns your keyboard into a battleground: every pull you make drags the center flag toward your goal line, but the CPU team is pulling right back, and it finds a new gear every single round. This is a pure rhythm-and-endurance game. There is no aiming, no dodging, no puzzle β just you, your two fingers, and a simple rule that turns out to be brutally hard to keep at full speed: never press the same side twice.
How to play
Mash Z and M in strict alternation β Z, M, Z, M β to haul the flag toward your goal line on the left. Each valid alternating press drags the flag a fixed step your way. Press the same key twice in a row and the pull fizzles β it counts for nothing, so rhythm beats raw speed. The CPU team pulls the flag toward their line continuously, and their strength ramps up the longer a round lasts and with every round you win. Drag the flag across your line to take the round; if the CPU drags it across theirs, the round is theirs. First to 2 round wins takes the match. On touch screens, tap the two big PULL buttons in turn β same alternation rule, same sweat.
Controls
- Keyboard: Z and M (or β and β) pressed in strict alternation β Z, M, Z, M.
- Touch / mouse: tap the blue β PULL and red PULL βΆ buttons alternately.
- A repeat of the same side does nothing, so settle into a steady two-finger drumbeat instead of smashing one key.
Tips & strategy
- Find your ceiling rhythm early in round 1 while the CPU is weakest β bank that lead, because round 3 is a monster.
- Use two fingers (one per key) instead of one finger hopping β it roughly doubles your pull rate with zero extra effort.
- If the flag stalls near the middle, do not panic-mash: panicked fingers repeat keys, and repeats are wasted pulls.
- Short, even drumbeats win β the CPU's strength grows with round time, so fast rounds are easier rounds.
Scoring
Winning a match scores 1000 points plus a speed bonus of up to 900 points (5 points per second under the 3-minute par). A lost match still earns 150 points per round won. Your best score is saved on your device β then go beat it before your fingers forgive you.
