🐝 Spelling Bee
Type with your keyboard or tap the tiles. Every word must include the golden center letter R. Use all 7 letters for a pangram bonus!
How to play
Spelling Bee is the beloved word-hunt puzzle: you're given seven letter tiles — six outer letters plus one golden center letter — and your job is to squeeze out as many words as you can. In this puzzle the letters are A, E, I, L, N, R, T, and the center letter is R. The rules are simple but strict: every word must be at least 4 letters long, every word must include the center letter R, and letters may be reused as often as you like (so RAILER and RETELLER are both fair game). Type with your physical keyboard or tap the tiles on screen, then hit Submit (or press Enter). Valid words join your found list and add points to your score. The crown jewels are pangrams — words that use all seven letters at least once, like ENTRAIL or RETAILER — worth a fat bonus. Keep an eye on your rank: it climbs from Beginner through Good Start, Moving Up, Good, Solid, Nice, Great and Amazing, all the way to Genius as your score grows. Stuck in a rut? Hit Shuffle to rearrange the outer tiles — a fresh layout often shakes loose words your eyes were skipping.
Controls
- Keyboard: type letters A E I L N R T to build your word, Backspace to delete the last letter, Enter to submit.
- Touch / mouse: tap any tile to add its letter. Use the Delete, Shuffle and Submit buttons below the hive.
- New Puzzle resets your score, rank and found words so you can chase a better run. Finish ends the round and shows your final score and rank.
Tips & strategy
- Start with the easy 4-letter words (RAIL, RAIN, REAL, TAIL, RILE) to bank quick points and warm up your eyes for longer finds.
- Look for productive endings. The letters here love -ER, -IER, -LER and -TER — LEARN becomes LEARNER, TELL becomes TELLER, RETAIL becomes RETAILER.
- Hunt pangrams early. Words like ENTRAIL, RETINAL and RELIANT use every letter and pay a 7-point bonus on top of their length.
- Shuffle is a strategy, not a gimmick. Rearranging the tiles breaks the visual patterns your brain has already exhausted and reveals fresh combinations.
Scoring
Four-letter words score 1 point; longer words score 1 point per letter (a 7-letter word is worth 7). Pangrams earn their length points plus a 7-point bonus. Your rank is based on the share of the puzzle's total possible points you've found — reach 70% to earn the Genius crown. Found words appear as chips under the hive, with pangrams highlighted in gold.
