🚂 Rail Switcher
Click / tap a junction (or press 1–4) to flip it. The teal-highlighted branch is the one currently selected.
How to play
Rail Switcher is a timing-and-planning puzzle about running a tiny railway network. Trains in red, blue, green, amber and purple enter from the left or top edge of the board and roll along fixed tracks toward the right and bottom edges, where stations painted in matching colors wait. Your only tool is the network of numbered junction switches: each junction splits one track into two branches, and clicking it (or pressing its number key) flips which branch is currently active — the teal-highlighted line shows the live route. The critical rule is that a junction must be set before a train rolls over it; once a train commits to a branch there is no taking it back. Deliver every train of the level to its matching station to clear the level. Two things end a round: a train arriving at the wrong-colored station, or two trains colliding on shared track. Either mistake costs one of your 3 lives and restarts the level. Later levels chain junctions in series, so a single train may need two or three flips at exactly the right moments, and several trains share the same lines — you will be flipping switches between passing trains. There are 8 hand-built levels, and trains get a little faster on each one.
Controls
- Click / tap a junction: flips the numbered switch between its two branches. The teal highlight always shows the currently selected route.
- Number keys 1–4: flip junction 1, 2, 3 or 4 without touching the mouse — handy when two trains need attention at once.
- Restart Level rebuilds the current level with your lives and score intact, in case the timing gets away from you.
Tips & strategy
- Plan the whole level before the first train moves. Read each train's color, trace its path through the junctions, and decide every flip in advance.
- Flip between trains, not during. When two trains share a junction, set it for the first train, then flip it in the gap after it passes.
- Watch for crossings. Trains on different lines can collide where tracks cross — staggered departures usually keep them apart, but check the timing.
- Use the number keys on late levels. Clicking is fine for one junction, but chained switches on fast trains are much easier with 1–4.
Scoring
Every correctly delivered train scores 100 × the level number, and clearing a level adds a 250 × level bonus. Your best campaign score is saved in the browser. Finish all 8 levels to become the undisputed signal master.
