🛡️ Orbit Defender
Rotate with ← → or drag around the planet · Tap, click or press Space to fire. Power-ups are collected by swinging the turret through them.
How to play
Orbit Defender puts you in charge of a lone defense turret circling your home planet. Asteroids spawn at the edge of deep space and spiral inward toward the planet at the centre of the screen. Your turret rides a fixed orbit ring — rotate it with the left and right arrow keys, or drag your finger or mouse around the planet to swing it to any angle. Tap, click or press Space to fire a bolt outward along the turret's current aim. Every destroyed asteroid scores points, and bigger rocks take more hits but pay out more. The catch: your planet has only 3 HP, and every asteroid that slips through and slams into the surface costs 1 HP. The game ends when the planet's hull hits zero. Destroyed asteroids sometimes drop glowing power-ups that orbit the planet — swing your turret through one to collect it. Rapid fire (yellow R) triples your shot rate for 10 seconds, the shield (cyan S) absorbs one full impact, and spread shot (magenta 3) fires a triple bolt fan for 10 seconds. Every 25 seconds the wave counter climbs: asteroids spawn faster, fly quicker and more of them are the big armoured kind.
Controls
- Left / Right arrows (or A / D): rotate the turret clockwise and counter-clockwise around the planet.
- Space: fire a bolt along the turret's aim. Holding Space keeps firing at the turret's reload rate.
- Mouse / touch: drag around the planet to swing the turret to that angle; a quick tap or click fires a shot without moving the turret.
- New Game restarts the run instantly with a fresh planet, full HP and zero score.
Tips & strategy
- Prioritise the closest rock. Asteroids accelerate as they spiral in, so kill the innermost threat first and let the distant ones wait.
- Lead your shots. Bolts travel outward in a straight line while asteroids curve — aim slightly ahead of a spiralling rock's path.
- Grab power-ups early. Swinging through a shield before a busy wave can save a full HP; rapid fire plus spread shot melts big asteroids.
- Watch the edges, not the planet. New asteroids appear at the rim — spotting them early gives you twice as long to line up the shot.
Scoring
Small asteroids are worth 10 points, medium ones 25 and the big armoured rocks 50. Your best score is saved in the browser, so every run is a chance to beat your own record. There is no final wave — survival is the score.
