About Crossword Mini

Crossword Mini is the crossword for people who do not have forty minutes and a pot of coffee. One compact 5×5 grid, eight interlocking answers, and a neat little word square hiding in plain sight — the rows and columns spell the very same four words. It is a five-minute brain teaser: small enough to finish on a tea break, tricky enough that the crossing letters will save you more than once.

How to play

Tap any white square to select it — the active word lights up and its clue appears above the grid. Tap the same square again to switch between across and down. Type letters with your keyboard or the on-screen keys; the cursor hops to the next square automatically. Stuck? Check Letters marks every wrong square in red, and Reveal fills in one correct letter for you — but you only get 3 reveals, so spend them wisely. The timer counts up from the moment you start. Fill every square correctly to win!

Controls

• Mouse / touch: tap a square to select, tap again to toggle across/down, tap a clue to jump straight to it.
• Keyboard: type A–Z to enter letters, Backspace to erase (it steps back through the word).
• On-screen keys: the QWERTY row under the grid works exactly like a keyboard — handy on phones.

Tips & strategy

• Start with the clue you are surest of — every letter you place is a free hint for the crossing word.
• The crossings do the work: two crossing letters are usually enough to crack a four-letter word.
• Use Check early if a word will not fit — one wrong letter early can poison three answers at once.
• Save your reveals for the very end, when one stubborn square is blocking the finish.
• Read the clue twice — a couple of these clues are sneakier than they look.

Scoring

There is no score — there is only the clock. Your fastest solve is saved on your device, and the win screen shows how many checks and reveals it cost you. The perfect game: zero checks, zero reveals. Good luck.
